Studleys Jewellers Repairs Process
We use a wide circle of highly trained professionals who collectively have the experience and talent to repair most items of jewellery.
What happens after I leave my property with Studleys Jewellers?
We look after your property as carefully as our own. Your jewellery will be secured in one of our insurer-approved safes until it can be processed by a dedicated member of the team.
We’ll make a description or the article, the work requested, take digital photographs, and assess the condition and other relevant factors. All this links to your unique five-digit reference number given to you when the item was deposited.
How long will a service take?
We aim to have services completed and ready for collection within three working weeks.
Due to the varied nature, we cannot guarantee completion dates. If the job is complicated it will usually take longer. You are welcome to contact us to enquire about the progress of work at any point - please remember to quote your reference number when you do so.
How long will a quote take?
We can either provide a quote straight away or we will contact you with one within one working week.
How will you contact me?
We can contact you through your preferred method, although we find telephone is the most efficient.
How much will a repair cost?
A rough guide for most repairs as follows:
- Ring alteration: £25-£175
- Setting repair: £75-£500.00
- Chain repair: £12.50-£150
- Watch service: £90-£275
- Watch part (glass etc.): £25-£150
If you have asked us for a fixed quotation then this will be provided at no cost before any work commence.
If I request an item to be returned unrepaired, when will it be ready for collection?
If an item is requested for return before repair it will generally be returned with the next consignment and processed ready for collection. This takes time, and we will contact you immediately when the item is ready for collection. This way items returned are free of charge.
Is the repair covered by a guarantee?
Yes. We provide a 12-month guarantee against materials and workmanship on the parts of an item of jewellery (or watch) repair by us.
We do not guarantee the item of jewellery as a whole. For example, if we replace one stone, we do not guarantee the stones we didn't work on.
We keep a digital image on file so we can identify new problems and recurring issues.
Changes in condition from wear and tear scratches or accidental damage is not covered by this guarantee.
Will you check any other part of jewellery to see if it needs repairing?
Yes. We will provide a quotation to repair those deficient or defective parts. Before an item is ready for collection we ensure it is in a satisfactory condition.
We cannot guarantee how long settings will last, such as those in rings.
Your Reference Ticket
This is important – keep this in a safe place. Before you can collect your jewellery you MUST bring this with you to collect your item if you fail to do this, we reserve to the right to withhold the item. If you lose this ticket you must inform us immediately.
