Inspired by Watteau’s La Gamme d’Amour (c.1717–1718), a study associated with his early fête-galante compositions and held in the collection of the National Gallery, London, this Edwardian silver bracelet, hallmarked London 1904, features three cast plaques depicting a romantic outdoor scene. Each panel shows a gentleman playing the guitar as two elegantly dressed figures listen beside a classical column — a composition characteristic of the pastoral courtship imagery favoured by Watteau and his circle. A beautifully detailed piece that reflects the Edwardian fascination with earlier artistic traditions.
