Scottish Luckenbooth, a traditional symbol of love and commitment.
This brooch takes the form of a Scottish Luckenbooth, a traditional symbol of love and commitment. The design consists of two conjoined hearts beneath a crown, this modern form emerged during the latter part of the mid-Victorian era. This particular example measuring 42.65 mm x 32.75 mm dates from the mid-20th century and is secured with a pin and clip. The material has been tested and determined to be sterling silver, with a maker’s mark of DB indicating the work of Hamish Dawson-Bowman, one of the founders of the Celtic Art Industries. A fine representation of this enduring Scottish symbol.
